Welcome! Workshop Goals

BioSecure 09 will be held September 24-25, 2009 (with one or more local tours offered on September 26), and will continue the annual biosurveillance and biosecurity workshop series started in 2006. The venue will be Taipei, Taiwan; this will be the first time that the BioSecure Workshop is held in the Asia-Pacific region.

Objectives of BioSecure 09:

  • Fostering collaboration between biosurveillance and biosecurity researchers and practitioners in Asia-Pacific countries and the rest of the world
  • Sharing international perspectives of biosurveillance practice
  • Discussing international data sources and challenges, and
  • Promoting cross-cutting research among public health and computer/information sciences research communities.
Main Workshop Themes
  1. Swine, human, and avian influenza
  2. Public health informatics
  3. Innovation surveillance methods
  4. Case studies and experience sharing



* AUTHORS PLEASE NOTE: Authors of all accepted papers needed to submit the final version of their papers by September 14, 2009. Please follow the formatting requirements closely (same as the initial submission) and produce camera-ready quality papers. Please use the original EasyChair account to send in the updated final paper. Please note that all attendees must register for the conference, and that all papers must have at least one author registered for the conference. See the Registration page for details.
