bullett Track Description

The success of Web 2.0, often attributed to the strong user presence and user-to-user interaction, has recently spurred much interest in social network research traditionally studied by social scientists. For information systems to succeed in the Web 2.0 age, they should be designed to nurture user generated content and social relationships among users. The knowledge gained from this additional information can potentially lead to the development of novel services that are better tailored to users' needs and at the same time meet the objectives of businesses offering them.

New designs and technologies, such as data and text mining algorithms, the semantic web, machine learning, visualization, knowledge management and virtual world systems, also play an important role in the understanding, analysis, and application of these user contents and networks. In this track, we invite original research papers that investigate the theories and practices addressing the relationships between information systems and these new Web applications, and the challenges involved in building the next-generation social network enabled and enabling information systems. We welcome both complete and research-in-progress papers that have theoretical, empirical, design, methodological, and practical implications for such kinds/types of systems.
