Edna
Reid
is currently a Research
Scientist in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
and Hoffman E-Commerce Laboratory at the University
of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. She was an Associate
Professor with Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore
and the president of the Society of Competitive
Intelligence Professionals Singapore (SCIPSgp).
Formerly, she was an entrepreneur with an Internet
start-up in Malaysia. In 1993, she joined the
School of Computer Engineering, Division of Information
Studies, NTU. Her areas of specialization and
research are competitive intelligence, web mining
and elearning systems.
Prior to coming to Asia, Edna was at the School
of Communications, Library and Information Services,
Rutgers University, US. In 1990, she was a postdoctoral
researcher at the University of California, Berkeley,
where she conducted research in terrorism information
services. Before her Silicon Valley experience,
Edna was a senior systems analyst and data analyst
team leader at private enterprises in Germany
and Northern Virginia (US). She has analytical
experience in the intelligence community.
Currently, Edna’s research explores a
new competitive intelligence methodology for conducting
web link analysis to identify and analyze an enterprise’s
non-customer communities (http://dwi.fhbb.ch/eb/publications.nsf/id/214).
She has a book
chapter entitled ‘Detecting and Analyzing
Hidden Online Communities’ in a forthcoming
book entitled ICT in Competitive Intelligence,
Idea Press, 2004. Also, she has developed an elearning
toolkit and collaborative assessment system for
harnessing your information intelligence skills.
Edna has a Doctorate from the University of Southern
California, a Masters degree from the University
of Maryland, and a postgraduate certificate in
management information systems from American University.
She is a member of several professional associations
and a founding member of SCIPSgp.
